A large Userfriendly with a Vanadis 4 Extra blade and a handle and saya made of medieval oak Lire plus..
With this knife, I had the intention of combining modern materials with old or historical materials and thus creating a "knife of contrasts".
This large Userfriendly has a blade made of the PM steel "Vanadis 4 Extra", which has a very high wear resistance and good toughness at the same time. I hardened the steel to 63 hrc. The blade is ground slightly convex and the profile is suitable for all cutting techniques.
The tang is fitted into a titanium (grade 1) end plate, which in turn is embedded in the handle.
The handle and the saya are made of oak from the boarding of a medieval well from northern Germany, which has now been stored for over 15 years.
