A powerful workhorse with a blade made of ApexUltra and a handle made of historic oak. Lire plus..
The blade of this 25cm workhorse consists of the special melt ApexUltra, which I have hardened to approx. 66hrc (incl. deep freeze treatment).
In terms of geometry, the knife corresponds to a powerful workhorse with a clear but not extreme taper. The tip is still thin enough to easily cut into onions. The blade has a large flat spot and the cutting edge is only gently curved. The tip is low. This makes the knife particularly suitable for pull and push cuts and for chopping. The knife has a strong wedge effect in the choil area, further towards the tip the wedge effect noticeably decreases and the cutting ability increases continously. The cutting edge is ground so thin over its entire length that it bends over the fingernail.
The handle is made from historic oak from a medieval/early modern age well. The wood was seasoned for 15 years. Since the wood was inside a thick trunk, its light color was largely preserved. This shade harmonises very pleasantly with the bronze, which will take on a darker patina over time.
