This 25m Gyuto has a blade made of a 450-layer high-performance Damascus steel made from Apex Ultra, TNT666 and 1.5634 steel. This combination results in a Damascus steel with very high wear resistance and good toughness at the same time. The blade has the peculiarity that, depending on the incidence of light, longitudinal and transverse lines appear and disappear again on it. The lines or “waves” are reminiscent of the curly growth found, for example, in maple. I rarely give my knives or Damascus steels names, but in this case the name “Curly Illusion” literally forced itself on me.

The knife can best be described as a mixture of user-friendly and laser. The blade has a relatively large back strength and a higher weight. However, due to the large blade height and the slightly convex grind, it has clear laser tendencies. The blade therefore has very good cutting properties, but without being too fragile or sensitive.

The knife is suitable for all cutting techniques.

The western handle is made of grenadilla with a reindeer antler spacer. The cover plate and pin are made of copper. At this point I would like to point out that the copper applications will develop a vividly colored patina over time.
