Buckeye Burl is the name given to the root wood of the horse chestnut. Untreated, the wood is relatively light and soft. Therefore Buckeye Burl is usually processed stabilized.
The Buckeye Burl offered here has been stabilized with acrylate-based stabilization resin. When hardened, the stabilized wood is harmless to health and can also be used in the food sector (e.g. for the handles of kitchen knives).
However, processing (especially grinding) should be carried out with appropriate dust extraction or a breathing mask.
When stabilizing, no cavities can be filled. As is usual with burl wood, the wood may show burl eyes, bark ingrowths or small cracks. However, these can easily be filled with thin superglue.
