A powerful Userfriendly with a stainless steel blade made of 14C28N and a grenadilla handle Read more..
This Userfriendly has a strong blade and the bevel is slightly thicker than my knives usually are, with a thickness of approx. 0.15mm throughout. This only slightly reduces the ability to cut, but gives the blade significantly more robustness. In combination with the stainless steel and the extremely dense and durable handle material, this results in a real "carefree knife". The blade is ground slightly convex and the profile is suitable for all cutting techniques.
The 14C28N cutting edge has a hardness of 62hrc and offers a good combination of wear resistance and robustness. The side layers are made of hardenable 1.4034 stainless steel and feature subtle but clearly visible "alloy banding". A layer of nickel between the steel layers prevents the diffusion of carbon.
Attention, even stainless blades can develop a gentle bluish patina after prolonged use due to contact with the acids found in food. The handle is made of grenadilla with a spacer made of reindeer antlers.
Of course, after hardening, the blade has undergone a deep-freeze treatment.
